![]() ![]() But we’re in the same grade so we can ask each other for help. It’s going to be sad because usually your friends are there to support you, so we’re going to be eating lunch alone. People are talking about more things that aren’t talked about in school that should be. I have learned a lot more though over these past few months. My grandfather taught me at a very young age about all the things that Columbus did and why he’s not to be celebrated. I’m looking forward to those discussions because as I’ve seen through social media, a lot of people from my school are very vocal about what’s going on right now and what has happened. We’re a very diverse school, we often have debates in certain classes, like English and history. I feel like that’s going to be really hard for me. I’m going to miss swim meets and recess at school, and how we all can just be so close and hug each other. I already know the symptoms of Covid-19 off the top of my head to be able to do a self-check in the morning. this summer as a junior camp counselor, so I’ve already had to wear a mask for a very long period of time. I was working with Missoula Parks and Rec. I want to make friends, but I don’t want to risk anything. It’s just not going to be the normal experience. ![]() I really don’t think this year I’m going to make as many friends as I did in other schools. I know one person because we went to the same middle school, but everyone’s going to be new to me. Since it’s a new school, I don’t have any friends there. Levin interviewed students across the country about what they were looking forward to and what they were worried about as the new school year began. What are your hopes and fears for the new school year? What are your feelings about the first day of school? Are you anxious? Excited? Confused? Do you agree that this year will be “unlike any other?” Some students are starting new schools virtually, with little opportunity to turn the new faces on webcams into real friends. Students back in classrooms face social distancing restrictions and the risk of outbreaks and emergency quarantines. Remote learners are confronting more days at home stuck to computer screens. In “ 11 Students on a First Day of School Like No Other,” Dan Levin writes:įor tens of millions of American students returning to class in some form or another amid the coronavirus pandemic, that first day ritual is tinged with anxiety, if not fear, as they begin an academic year unlike any other. ![]()

![]() ![]() This character conflict is necessary to set up the emotional payoff of Deathly Hallows – Part 2, but the act of watching a film that is almost all setup gets a bit monotonous.Īnd perhaps Deathly Hallows – Part 1’s biggest issue is just that-it’s a lot of setup for the finale without much room for payoff. ![]() This is due in part to the fact that Harry, Ron, and Hermione are on a directionless hunt, disapparating from one gorgeous locale to the next as they bicker amongst themselves. And while Deathly Hallows – Part 1 is mighty compelling for the first hour or so (seeing these characters out and about in the muggle world is a nice change of pace), it definitely loses steam in its second half. ![]() Book readers had their issues with the walkabout nature of the first half of the final book, so many were bracing for a somewhat sluggish film adaptation of those initial chapters. It’s tough to judge a film that is self-admittedly half a story, but since it’s presented as a separate entry into the Harry Potter series, Deathly Hallows – Part 1 must be evaluated as such. But while Chamber of Secrets is enjoyable enough (just being in the world of Harry Potter goes a long way), it doesn’t quite live up to the brilliance of the rest of the franchise. Columbus also does a fine job at further defining the wizarding world with issues like the pureblood cause and Hogwarts’ dark past. Columbus nails the realization of Dobby, toeing the fine line between mischievously funny and irritating to deliver a visually impressive and genuinely adorable CG character. Though it’s certainly too long and meanders in places, there’s still much to like about Chamber of Secrets. Director Chris Columbus expands on the world he built so beautifully in the first film with a slightly darker and much more plot-heavy sequel, and while the film isn’t bad per se, it’s definitely the most laborious of the bunch. Harry Potter and the Chamber of SecretsĪt 161 minutes, Chamber of Secrets is the longest film of the franchise, and perhaps not so coincidentally it’s also the last film to try and fit (almost) everything from the book into the movie. It’s a magnificent accomplishment made all the more impressive by the fact that there’s not an outright bad movie in the bunch.Īs the franchise remains as popular now as it was a decade ago, and with the films now playing on their new basic cable home at Syfy and USA and streaming on HBO Max, now seems like as good a time as any to revisit the Harry Potter films and rank them worst to best-a somewhat difficult task given the high standard of quality throughout.Ī brief note before we begin, though: For the purposes of this feature, I’m evaluating each Harry Potter movie as a film first and foremost, not necessarily how it stacks up against its respective novel re: what was left out, what was added, etc.Ĩ. The Harry Potter movies visualized what book readers had long fantasized about in their heads, and with the creative input and blessing of Rowling, they were able to evolve and grow just as the novels did, with four different directors bringing a variety of flavors to the series from film to film without sacrificing character, story, or continuity. But in another minor miracle, the Harry Potter film franchise was able to maintain a level of quality rarely found in film series that stretch on past one or two movies, let alone eight. As with anything that’s popular nowadays, Hollywood came calling rather quickly, and the first Harry Potter film was released a little over a year after Rowling’s fourth book hit the shelves. Rowling set out to tell over 20 years ago and the lush, tangible world she created.īut Harry Potter doesn’t begin and end with the books. This kind of longevity is rare, and it’s all to do with the quality of the story J.K. Harry Potter is ubiquitous in the form of elaborate theme parks, Freeform marathons ( RIP), video games, and of course the highly re-readable novels. It’s been 13 years since the last book was released, nine years since the last movie hit theaters, and yet the IP is as strong as it ever was. The Harry Potter franchise is a global phenomenon like few others. ![]() ![]() ![]() It also has multiple OS support with Linux, Windows and OSX, as well as the ability to enable distributed password cracking. There are many ways to attack passwords such as brute-force, cracking the hashes with wordlists and rainbow tables.Ĭurrently, Hashcat can be used with computer components like CPUs and GPUs. Hashcat can be used to crack passwords by leveraging hardware on computer systems such as GPUs for added speed. The world’s fastest password hacking utility, Hashcat supports five different types of attack in conjunction with more than 200 hashing algorithms. This is much quicker than traditional CPU-bound tools because graphics cards are capable of dealing with advanced mathematical calculations very quickly. ![]() Once this has been done, it will take about an hour or so for Ophcrack to finish running through its calculations with GPUs. The first thing you need to do is select your Windows version and then download the rainbow tables for that specific version of Windows. These are the same graphics cards that are used for gaming and 3D design. Accelerating a process is achieved by using graphics processing units, or GPUs. This program runs by mapping out what’s called rainbow tables to get you access to your password. This is a free, open-source tool that can recover all the hashes of the SAM (security accounts manager) registry key in older versions and LM Hashes in more recent ones. Ophcrack is a tool that can be used for breaking Windows passwords. You can test many different types of systems with Cain & Abel, so it is definitely worth becoming familiar with them. It’s been designed with these four major features in mind: NetWare LAN Manager/Windows NT LM Hashes Cracker, Rainbow Table Generator, Offline NT Password & Registry Editor and Salted Hash Keeper. Cain & AbelĬain is a Windows password recovery tool that can search and crack various password hashes and filter net packets using methods, including network packet sniffing.Ĭain can often be used by computer forensics experts to decrypt an NT LAN Manager (NTLM) hash, which encrypts time-sensitive information between client computers and servers like Active Directory or LDAP servers to verify credentials.Ĭain can be used in many different ways, making it a very handy tool to have as part of your toolkit. This can be a real wake-up call for users that do not use proper password security measures. Using Hydra, researchers can demonstrate the ease of gaining unauthorized access to a system remotely in a very short space of time, sometimes in mere minutes. It utilizes multiple CPUs and can significantly reduce the time it takes to recover passwords from encrypted wireless networks, WPA/WPA2 protected access points and even heavily firewalled corporate LANs. It is capable of attacking numerous protocols. Hydra uses parallelization to perform its login cracker tasks. Hydra will take longer to crack a long password than it will to crack a shorter one, so the length of the password can make a big difference. Hydra is just as straightforward as most of Kali Linux’s tools: simply launch it with a wordlist and start guessing passwords until one works. It has many advantages over John the Ripper, but it’s slower and requires more processing power from your system to work correctly. HydraĪmong the password cracking programs available, Hydra can be used to brute force passwords. ![]() ![]() Even though that was already obvious to me and a few others, it's still been acknowledged by a Developer. Munk himself has even stepped in saying it was a scam. I made this thread because someone posted that Killing Floor 2 is available for Pre-Order on G2A already when it's not. ![]() The whole point of this wasn't even pertaining to TWI in particular. I fear the day where we live in a country where providing useful information with factual evidence to back it up is considered fear-mongering.Ģ. It's because they KNOW their **** can be fraudulent and they keep going on with it because people keep buying.ġ. Shouldn't they want to do that for free like EVERY other digital game retailer? If the keys are legitimate and will work as all the sheeple keep saying, why would you need to buy a protection plan for a digital code locked to your account anyway? On the rare occasion you'll get reimbursed another key, they usually just offer some jargon-ish responded saying that their hands are tied and can't do anything.Īnd also. Other people responded saying it was bupkiss. I was a little cautious and asked around about the shield. This is of course before I was any wiser about it. I was in the position where I wanted to buy a game from G2A about. ![]() PlatinumRooster: +Justin Morssink The shield crap is just to get an extra dollar or two out of you. And so the developer just made $200,000 in a single hour by selling their game cheap. But when it went on sale and suddenly 10,000 copies were sold at $25 each (10,000 x $25), the gross sale is $250,000. With the steam sale, it just jumped up to 10,000.įor your mathematical digestion, in this scenario, the developer was only getting $16000 a month from selling at retail value(400 x $40). Now again, while it's not as much as 10,000 at retail value, the developer may have only been selling 300-400 copies of that game per month. $25 and all of a sudden, 10,000 copies fly of the shelves in an hour and a portion goes to the developer. A game might be year old and not make much sales anymore because its still at a pretty steep retail price of, say, $40. This method is also why Steam is so successful. While it may not be as much as 10,000 at retail value, it's a safer route because you never know how long it'll take to sell 10,000 copies at retail value. Most developers are down with this because its an instant influx of cash. so how about we buy 10,000 copies at a discounted price giving you a GUARANTEE immediate profit. Selling 10,000 copies of your game at retail price might be a little hard. ![]() The concept of Wholesale is basically saying, "Hey Developer. They get orders, and send the orders automatically to the developers who in part send keys back for them to give to the customers.Īnd when they're not GIVEN keys, they buy wholesale price from developers. Its called Humble Bundle because developers OFFER them keys to sell at low prices. PlatinumRooster: +KageNekoSamax They're certified re-sellers. "Justin Morssink": Thank god my PvZ key is still valid, but then again, I did buy it with G2A shield. "KageNekoSamax": what about humble bundle and bundlestars? Only buy from the company g2a, then it's safe! "MrIceDr4gon": The only stolen keys are coming from the g2a marketplace, where every user can sell a key. Look ANYWHERE without a developer/publisher tagline and you'll find plenty of situations where people don't get refunds when their keys don't work because it's an "incurred risk". G2A offered refunds this time because the big boys stepped up. G2A won't get their hands dirty with the actual work, but they willingly take these keys and sell them knowing their background. Some keys are actually achieved by stolen credit cards too. Primarily games that aren't globally locked in other countries. Physical shipments get stolen constantly. You can look up multiple older accounts of people getting keys revoked. They get stolen all the time and sold for a massive discount. EA is the only one to have gone through an authentication run with it and snagged it. PlatinumRooster: They have hundreds of thousands of stolen keys. Don't buy EA games from them and it is ok. ![]() ![]()
